Join in the Parade
Celebrate Juneteenth with the UNO Department of Black Studies and the Office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Inclusion (SLII)! Juneteenth is an important milestone in the African-American community, as it represents the emancipation of African Americans enslaved in the United States.
Sign up to walk in the parade on June 14 — line up at 9 A.M. and the parade starts at 10 A.M. Don’t miss your chance to play a major role in one of Omaha's largest celebrations! Volunteers are needed to carry banners, pass out swag and candy, and represent UNO in the parade Non-UNO family and friends are welcome to participate.

Get Registered and Get a Free T-Shirt
All participants must wear a t-shirt from Black Studies or NOI. Request a free t-shirt (XS-5X) by contacting the UNO Department of Black Studies at 402.554.2412. You can also stop by the Black Studies Office in ASH 184 from Tuesday, June 10, through Friday, June 13.

Attend the Omaha Freedom Festival
You're also encouraged to attend the Omaha Freedom Festival on June 14, from noon to 4 P.M., at the Malcolm X Foundation Building located at 3448 Evans Street. Keep an eye out for the UNO tables at the festival. Learn more about the festival.
