September is National Suicide Prevention Month and research tells us that one of the best ways to reduce the risk of suicide is to provide support and outreach to one another. Join us throughout the month of September in providing and receiving mutual mental health support through written words of encouragement, suggestions, and inspiration. Each week in the H&K lobby, a prompt or question will be posted related to ways in which each of us can self-care and improve our mental health and Maverick Community members will be asked to write their replies on a sticky note that they can post on windows to share with their fellow campus community members. Please remember to keep the responses appropriate, positive, and encouraging as we work to end the stigma associated with mental health challenges and suicide in our community. We can't wait to hear your thoughts and ideas!

Please note, if you are experiencing a mental health crisis and need immediate help, please contact UNO CAPS anytime at 402-554-2409 or the National Suicide & Crisis Hotline at to speak to a trained counselor.
