at the Strauss Performing Arts Center on the University of Nebraska at Omaha
campus. Skylar will perform an eclectic mix of works by Harold Arlen, Beethoven, Brian Crain, Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, Cool-Jae Huh, Schubert, and Lindsey Stirling. She will be joined by talented group of collaborative musicians including Emiliano Carerra-Ybanez, Spencer Feldman, Joshua Miller, Steven Pruss, Max Rieke, and Matthew Sheppherd. The performance will be live-streamed on the School of Music YouTube channel.
Skylar Perran has studied under the tutelage of Anne Nagosky, Dr. Mary Perkinson, and is currently a student of Dr. Olga Smola majoring in violin performance. She currently sits concertmaster in the UNO Heartland Philharmonic orchestra, and has played in masterclasses for Alexi Kenney, The Aspen Trio, New Arts Trio, and Sheng Ho Wang. She has taken part in many performances throughout the Omaha area, including playing in a string quartet for the University of Wisconsin choir at the Regional ACDA conference in 2024, various performances for UNO’s Sound Health Program, open mics at Stories Coffee and UNO Criss Library, and many more. In addition to her musical endeavors, she has also appeared on the UNO Dean’s list and UNO Chancellor’s list Fall 2022- Spring 2024, and appeared on the UNO Dean’s list Fall 2024. She is passionate about exploring different styles of music beyond what is typically expected of a classically trained violinist, and although her primary instrument is the violin she is also a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, expanding her skills to include piano and flute.
