In today's dynamic and highly charged threat environment, counterterrorism practitioners and researchers are often exposed to hateful and graphic content. This can take a profound toll.

Join NCITE for a webinar discussing how organizations can protect counterterrorism professionals doing the critical, but often difficult work. Panelists are:

  • Daisy Muibu, Ph.D., assistant professor of security studies and an NCITE principal investigator. Muibu's current work is focused on counterterrorism, countering violent extremism, and security sector governance in conflict-affected areas. Her previous work has been published in Dynamics of Asymmetric ConflictSouth African Journal of International Affairs; Security and Development; Journal of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism; and the Combating Terrorism Center. Muibu co-leads NCITE research examining trauma in counterterrorism practitioners and how to address it.
  • Joseph Young, Ph.D., director of the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce and a professor at the University of Kentucky. Young's research focuses on understanding the cross-national causes and consequences of political violence. His previous research has been supported by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), NCITE, and the National Science Foundation. Young co-leads NCITE research examining the effects of trauma on counterterrorism practitioners and how to address it.
