DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, Dr. Doberneck will provide examples of guide
 lines and policies that specifically recognize engaged scholarship and a to
 olkit to help committees and academic leaders evaluate engage scholarship i
 n the files they review. Participants should bring their current RPT polici
 es and any evaluation criteria/rubrics used by review committees. The works
 hop will include time for participants to identify areas of improvement in 
 policies and procedures and develop an action plan to move forward with des
 ired change.\n\n \n\nDoberneck consults with colleges and universities acro
 ss the country on institutional change supportive of community engagement\;
  revisions to reappointment\, promotion\, and tenure policies to support co
 mmunity engagement\; publishing community-engaged scholarship\; graduate ed
 ucation\, and professional development for community engagement. She chairs
  the nationally competitive Emerging Engagement Scholars Workshop\, speaks 
 regularly at the Pen to Paper Academic Writing Retreat\, is currently a Cam
 pus Compact Fellow writing the introductory module for the Community Engage
 ment Competency Program\, and has recently concluded a co-editorship of a s
 pecial issue of the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement.\n\
