DESCRIPTION:This event is free!\n\n \n\nPianist Dzintra Erliha (1981)\, int
 ernational piano competition award winner\, began to play piano at the age 
 of three. Her first teachers were her parents – professional musicians\, an
 d quickly revealed her perfect pitch. Erliha studied at the Emīls Dārziņš C
 ollege of Music (with lecturer Ligita Muižarāja)\, the Jāzeps Mediņš Rīga C
 ollege of Music (lecturer Guna Boža) and the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy 
 of Music (Professor Arnis Zandmanis)\, and graduated the Master’s Degree Pr
 ogramme with distinction. In 2013\, she received her PhD in Art Science\, d
 eveloping her dissertation about composer Lūcija Garūta (supervised by Asso
 ciate Professor Baiba Jaunslaviete).\n\n \n\nErliha has won awards at many 
 international pianist competitions\, including the Balys Dvarionas competit
 ion in Lithuania (1997\, diploma)\, the Roma-1997 competition in Italy (199
 7\, 1st Place)\, the Ludmila Knezkova-Hussey Pianist Competition in Canada 
 (1998\, 3rd Prize)\, and the Nikolai Rubinstein Pianist Competition in Fran
 ce (1999\, 1st Prize).\n\n \n\nWith the support of the Marta Kundrāte-Tūter
 e Memorial Fund\, the artist studied in Canada with the distinguished Latvi
 an Canadian pianist Arturs Ozoliņš. She supplemented her knowledge at inter
 national pianist master classes with professors Lazar Berman\, Barry Dougla
 s\, Victor Eresko\, Igor Lazko\, Philippe Giusiano\, Birgitta Wollenweber\,
  Zhu-Xiao-Mei\, Oleg Mantur\, Mūza Rubackytė\, Aldona Dvarionaitė\, and oth
 ers. \n\n \n\nShe has performed in Latvia and throughout the world: the Uni
 ted States\, Australia\, Brazil\, Canada\, Iceland\, France\, Finland\, Pol
 and\, Ukraine\, and elsewhere. On February 4\, 2023 she performed solo conc
 ert at famous Salle Cortot\, Paris\, France. On February 9\, 2024 was her s
 olo concert - debut at Carnegie Hall\, New York\, USA.\n\n \n\nThe pianist 
 has recorded many albums\, including Zvaigznes skatiens / Regard de l`etoil
 e (piano music by Latvian composer Lūcijas Garūta and French composer Olivi
 er Messiaen\, 2008) and Kvēlot\, liesmot\, sadegt (vocal and instrumental c
 hamber music by Garūta\, 2010). For the 90th anniversary of Tālivaldis Ķeni
 ņš’ birth\, Erliha\, along with mezzo soprano Vilma Indra Vītols (www.vilma
 vitols.com)\, released an album in Canada called Tilts pār jūrām / The Brid
 ge Across the Seas. In January 2017\, she released an album Citādas krāsas 
 / Other Colours\, where\, along with flutist\, Latvian Great Music Award 20
 15 winner Ilona Meija\, she recorded works by Latvian composers for flute a
 nd piano. In 2018\, along with opera star Maija Kovaļevska and Latvian Nati
 onal Opera soloist Krišjānis Norvelis\, released the CD album Ar siltu sird
 i / Warmhearted\, with all proceeds donated to charity. That recording incl
 uded vocal and instrumental chamber music by Latvian composers. In summer 2
 021 she released an album Ēnu spēles upē / Shadow Games in the River (recor
 ding included chamber music by Latvian composers for flute\, cello and pian
 o). \n\n \n\nIn 2022 she released a solo album SERENA (piano music by Ameri
 can and Latvian women composers of the 21th century\; recording company PRI
 MA CLASSIC). In 2024 she released a solo album DREAMSCAPE (piano music by A
 merican and Latvian women composers of the 21th century\; recording company
  PRIMA CLASSIC). Both CD`s are available at the major digital platforms: Sp
 otify\, Apple Music\, etc.\n\n \n\nAs of 2017\, the pianist actively perfor
 ms in Scandinavia\, participating in projects with other performers\, as we
 ll as collaboration with composers\, and regularly gives master classes to 
 aspiring pianists. In 2018\, Dzintra Erliha went on a world concert tour\, 
 dedicated to Latvia’s 100th anniversary\, performing in Reykjavik\, Iceland
 \; Australia – Sydney\, Melbourne\, Adelaide and in the United States – Bos
 ton\, Cleveland\, New Jersey\, Washington DC and New York\, performing both
  solo and with the distinguished soprano Maija Kovaļevska. In the fall of 2
 019\, Erliha toured the United States not only as a musician\, but also as 
 a lecturer\, together with the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the 
 United Nations Andrejs Pildegovičs.\n\n \n\nThe pianist actively works in t
 he field of musicology. Many of Erliha’s research papers have been publishe
