About this Event

https://globalgamejam.org/jam-sites/2026/omaha-ggj-2026Help celebrate 10 FULL YEARS of Global Game Jam in Omaha, and join the global community of developers, artists, and creatives in a rapid game development event on campus at UNO!
Zero game design or development experience is necessary to participate. Everyone is welcome to make any kind of interactive experience during GGJ, and support is available to get you up and running.
This event location fully supports everything from 3D digital games, paper board games, hand-written one-page RPGS, modules for existing play systems, games-built-within-games, and even rules for playground activities. Everyone's particular expertise is valuable at all stages of design. Learn new skills and support a team by contributing ideas, playtesting, and giving moral support, even if you don't feel 101% ready to make a game yourself. GGJ is all about an accessible and welcoming community experience!
GGJ Omaha is brought to you by the Criss Library Creative Production Lab and the UNO Maverick Meadow Indie Game Studio. Our Community partners this year are Insert Game [Here] and the Omaha Game Developer's Association.
HOW IT WORKS
The event begins online on Monday January 26th with a short video keynote and advice from leading game developers; then the secret theme is announced. Participants worldwide are challenged to make entirely new games based on the theme to be completed by Sunday afternoon, February 1st.
Join other local developers and hobbyists on Discord to learn about development, share your ideas, and join a team anytime!
Locally, participants will meet in-person at UNO's Peter Kiewit Institute (PKI) room 158 on Saturday January 31st at 9:30am to prepare, brainstorm, break off into teams, and create their game project. Teams can stay until 9pm Saturday, and return to keep working at 10am Sunday the 1st to upload game files to the GGJ website by 4pm. From 4-5pm Sunday the site is open to family and friends as a showcase presentation of everyone's work.

Meet other developers, ask questions, and start a team by joining the official discord.
Everyone interested in participation needs to register online via the Global Game Jam page.
