About this Event
1110 S 67th St, Omaha, NE 68182
Join the experts from the Omaha Spatial Justice Project and Destination Omaha for an exciting and fast paced introduction to design for XR, VR, and AR applications informed by real-world research. Your goal: develop the outline for a future VR experience that illuminates the hidden history of Omaha.
This activity is based on Hackathons and Game Jams, where teams are formed to tackle a unique problem quickly using brainstorming and prototyping. Participants will be introduced to the research from OSJP that covers Omaha's history of housing and migration. Guided by technical experts and research professionals, teams will be formed during the event to mine OSJP research for unique narratives that can be uncovered through interactive media.
No experience or prior knowledge is required to participate! Using craft supplies, writing, and guided innovation activities, teams have the opportunity to build low-fidelity prototypes and concept outlines that will be used as part of Destination Omaha's digital application development cycle.
Coffee and snacks provided. Registration suggested, but not required. Participants must be age 19+ or a currently enrolled UNO student.
