“Art, Awareness, and Advocacy:  Perspectives from the Samuel Bak Museum”

Samuel Bak has dedicated his career to bearing witness to the Holocaust. While his paintings commemorate the loss of European Jewish lives, they also represent the artist's confrontation with the ongoing cycles of violence of the twentieth and twenty-first century. His paintings are the preface to conversations on discrimination, hate, human rights violations, genocide, as well as discussion on hope, the construction of better societies, and what it means to belong. Chief Curator Alexandra Cardon will present on how Bak's art and his mission have guided exhibitions on the Holocaust, the impact of discrimination, forced migration, human rights, and the plight of children in war zones.

This event is available in person at 127 CEC or on Zoom.
