About this Event
6708 Pine St, Omaha, Omaha, NE 68106
Every semester, the Strategy Faculty in the College of Business Administration partners with a real-world organization to provide an experiential learning experience for students completing their capstone business course (Corporate and Business Strategy). All graduating seniors in the College of Business Administration apply knowledge and skills they’ve acquired throughout their major to develop strategic recommendations for a local company and compete in UNO's Capstone Cup.
This semester, BigIron, the largest agricultural equipment auctioneer in the world, is the Capstone Cup’s case partner and beneficiary of strategies developed by students. UNO alum and current president of BigIron, Jackie Glassman, is “excited to see how the best students think differently about the company and its current outlook.”
Over 140 students competed in the Round 1 Showcase on November 8th. Throughout the first round, teams presented their recommendations four times in front of different judges during which they were scored on their problem statement, analyses, recommendation, implementation, pitch quality, and visual aid. Students also received the chance to network with judges, take professional headshots, and enjoy a taco bar provided by Capstone Cup sponsors.
The five highest-scoring teams from the Round 1 Showcase are now challenged with refining their strategies and creating a formal presentation to be shared with the public.
All finalists will receive a prize, but only one team will walk away with their name etched on the Capstone Cup. Please join judges, students, and faculty on December 6th starting at 9:30 AM in Mammel Hall 113 to watch the future of Omaha business professionals compete in this culminating experience.
