to academia and research in the areas related to biomechanics\, variabilit
 y\, motor disorders\, physical therapy\, and related studies.\n\n \n\n"Sci
ence and Strategies to Bolster Military Human Performance Optimization: Ov
erview of the University of Pittsburgh’s Neuromuscular Research Laborato
 ry Research Portfolio"\n\n \n\nPresentation Abstract\n\nThis presentation
will highlight the importance of leveraging and exploiting human performan
ce optimization scientific strategies to enhance and sustain our military
personnel as human weapon systems in order to thrive in volatile\, uncerta
in\, complex\, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments and overmatch our near pe
er competitors and adversaries. A unified vision consisting of an integrat
ed\, holistic\, and comprehensive approach that considers human performanc
e as a multi-faceted paradigm will be essential. Specific human performanc
e domains can be leveraged and exploited to provide strategic advantages f
or future US military Multi-Domain Operations. Integrative physiological a
nd psychological research that collates early successes in biological perf
ormance enhancement and leverages other disciplines to provide performance
enhancing solutions to Warfighters will be essential.\n\n \n\nAbout Dr. N
indl\n\nBradley C. Nindl\, PhD\, FACSM is the Director of the Neuromuscula
r Research Laboratory/Warrior Human Performance Research Center and tenure
d professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Sports Medici
ne and Nutrition in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at th
e University of Pittsburgh. He also has dual appointments as the Senior Mi
litary and Scientific Advisor for the University's Center for Military Med
icine Research and at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine and
an adjunct professor in the Department of Military and Emergency Medicine
at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda\, MD.
