Presentation Title: Make Your Work Open and Accessible

Presentation Abstract:

Discover how open access can expand the reach, impact, and longevity of your scholarship. This session introduces the fundamentals of open access and highlights how University of Nebraska at Omaha’s faculty, staff, and students can take advantage of Criss Library’s open access publishing agreements and DigitalCommons@UNO, UNO’s open access institutional repository. Participants will learn about different open access models, each of the library’s publisher agreements with major academic presses, and how these options can remove financial barriers while allowing authors to retain copyright. The presentation will also demonstrate how DigitalCommons@UNO increases visibility, provides usage metrics, and preserves scholarly and creative works of all types. Whether you are new to open access or looking to better showcase your research, this session offers practical guidance to make your work more accessible and discoverable worldwide.
