DESCRIPTION:The focus of the seminar series is to call for experts related
to academia and research in the areas related to biomechanics\, variability
 \, motor disorders\, physical therapy\, and related studies.\n\n \n\nPresen
tation Title: Understanding the Cardiovascular System using Image-based Car
 diovascular Mechanics and Hemodynamics\n\n \n\nPresentation Abstract:\n\nFr
om the fundamental structure of myocardial tissue to the flow of blood thro
ugh the heart and cardiovascular system\, imaging and biomechanics provide
a unique understanding of health and disease. This talk will cover some of
our latest developments using imaging\, biomechanics and hemodynamics to un
derstand fundamental physiology in iPSC derived engineered heart tissues\,
genetic cardiomyopathies\, and aortic dissection.\n\n \n\nAbout the speaker
:\n\nDr. David Nordsletten is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineer
ing and Cardiac Surgery (University of Michigan)\, a visiting professor in
 Cardiovascular Biomechanics (King’s College London)\, and editor-in-chief o
f Biomechanics and Modeling in Mechanobiology (BMMB\, Springer-Nature). His
research focuses on the biomechanics of the heart and cardiovascular syste
m\, with particular interest and emphasis in the integration of medical ima
ging and biomechanics. He has a broad background in biomechanics\, cardiac
mechanics\, hemodynamics\, magnetic resonance phase contrast imaging\, magn
etic resonance elastography and image-based computational modeling as well
as numerical methods\, numerical analysis\, and computational software deve
 lopment.
