DESCRIPTION:The focus of the seminar series is to call for experts related
to academia and research in the areas related to biomechanics\, variabilit
 y\, motor disorders\, physical therapy\, and related studies.\n\n \n\nPres
entation Title: Neural Mechanisms of Fragile X Syndrome\n\n \n\nPresentati
on Abstract:\n\nFragile X syndrome (FXS)\, caused by the loss of FMRP expr
ession\, is the leading monogenic cause of autism spectrum disorders. Clin
ical studies have identified several cognitive and behavioral impairments
in children with FXS\, such as learning deficits\, sensory hypersensitivit
y and dysregulated sleep. Using the Fmr1 KO mouse model\, we have recapitu
lated these behavioral impairments in adolescent mice. I will discuss our
findings\, using multiphoton imaging and electrophysiology approaches\, th
at studied the neural mechanisms that underlie these behavioral impairment
s in mouse models of FXS. \n\n \n\nAbout the speaker:\n\nDr. Anna Dunaevsk
y is a Professor of Developmental Neuroscience at the University of Nebras
ka Medical Center for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Neb
raska Medical Center. She received her postdoctoral training studying neur
 onal development at Columbia University.
