Join us for the screenings of three animated films from Humanity in Action. Traces: Portraits of Resistance, Survival, and Resolve shares three histories of life from personal memories during one of humanity's darkest chapters. Developed by an international team of documentarians, researchers, and animators, the trilogy preserves critical stories for future generations.

Program is free to the public. Maximum capacity is 70 and RSVP is required.

My Father's War, the third short film that will be shown, will be followed by a brief lecture and open discussion on the key points of the film led by Alexandra M. Cardon

This film explores the hereditary trauma of the Holocaust and offers an intergenerational conversation across decades. Samuel Bak's paintings showcase a world tenuously rebuilt and the struggle to understand the Shoah. Our discussion will compare how both the film and Bak's paintings grapple with memory, trauma, and reconstruction.

Alexandra M. Cardon, M.Phil, is the Curator of the Samuel Bak Museum: The Learning Center. She has worked at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Venice Biennale, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and taught at several universities. Her research focuses on the production of art in the aftermath of World War II.
