About this Event
6401 University Dr N, Omaha, NE 68182
The March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay, and Bi Equal Rights and Liberation was held on April 25, 1993. The planning for this third march on Washington for LGBTQ+ rights began in early 1991. The march’s platform ultimately had seven primary demands including equal rights, an end to discrimination by state and federal governments including the military, and more funding for AIDS research. Among the approximately one million attendees at the March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay, and Bi Equal Rights and Liberation were a number of proud Nebraskans.
The display features photos and documents from the Terry Sweeney and Pat Phalen Papers in the Queer Omaha Archives of UNO Libraries' Archives and Special Collections.
The exhibition is located on the first floor of Criss Library and is free and open to the public during regular library hours April 20-May 2, 2023.
